Basic Questions

Since GP Posting Server uses Microsoft Dynamics GP’s native Master Posting Routine, any transaction that can be posted in Master Posting can be posted by GP Posting Server.
No. Whether you are using eConnect, Integration Manager, SQL Scripts or triggers, all you need to do is add a command to populate GP Posting Server’s work table with the information of your imported transactions. GP Posting Server will automatically detect this, queue and then post the transactions for you.
Yes. Although it is recommended that a dedicated machine run GP Posting Server, you could simply stop the polling routine and use Microsoft Dynamics GP for other purposes. You can start the polling routine once you are finished.
The posting status is displayed in the GP Posting Server Polling window. You will be able to monitor whether your batches post successfully or have failed. Furthermore, GP Posting Server has an emailer feature that you may setup to send notification emails to an administrator whenever a batch failed to post. You can even monitor failed batches remotely.
No. GP Posting Server comes with a Batch Post Reset tool. After failed batches have been fixed, you can use the Batch Post Reset tool to reinsert and effectively re-queue the batch in GP Posting Server.
One of the most common steps overlooked during GP Posting Server setup is security. Check the security for the current user and company running GP Posting Server under Product: GP Posting Server; Type: Alternate Dynamics GP windows; Series: Company. The Master Posting routine should be marked.
No. Posting Server will work without Registration Keys in Fabrikam. However, you will be prompted with the standard GP dialog that you are using a sample company every time GP Posting Server tries to post a batch on queue.
No, you won’t. GP Posting Server has its own Report Setup option that it uses instead of the native Report Setup in Microsoft Dynamics GP. You may set your posting reports to print to file so you can review them later. This does not affect manual posting using Dynamics GP.
GP Posting Server “posts” transactions. Since Sales Orders are “transferred,” not posted, GP Posting Server will not do this automatically. However, this feature is supported by “Auto Transfer GP.”
GP Posting Server has releases compatible with Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains 8.0, GP 9.0, GP 10.0, GP 2010, GP 2013, and GP 2015.

Advanced Questions

There could be a few reasons why GP Posting Server or Microsoft Dynamics GP is not responding. One thing to initially check is whether the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) is installed on the machine running GP Posting Server. Alba Spectrum has observed in the past that triggers from PSTL may conflict with GP Posting Server.
You can configure GP Posting Server to post batches by Batch ID (alphabetical order) or by Requested Date and Time (First in, first out). This setting is available in the GP Posting Server General Setup.
Yes. You can use the Batch Auto Posting Configuration feature to create simple rules. GP Posting Server will use these rules to detect, queue, and post your batches without needing complex SQL scripting.
Yes. Use the Tracker Setup to define a rule that sends an alert to an Administrator if GP Posting Server has been idle for a set period. You may want to define a specific idle threshold such as 20 or 30 minutes.
Yes. You can use GP Posting Server’s Timetable feature to automatically initialize (start) and stop processing at predefined times of the day.
