Dynamics GP Technical Support – rolling the dice or what are my options

First of all, we recommend you to contact your Dynamics GP VAR (Reseller, Consultant, or whoever is your Great Plains Guru). Tech support could be obtained directly from Microsoft Business Solutions (Dynamics GP subdivision), where each case could be purchased at reasonable price (when you have active annual support contract, the price is discounted, otherwise you have to have your credit card handy to pay list price). Second option is to invite Great Plains Dynamics GP technical or functional consultant (or Great Plains Dexterity programmer, if you are facing customization project of support issue). You may have to appeal to Dynamics GP consulting channel, especially when you are on the historical Great Plains Dynamics version, no longer supported directly through Microsoft Business Solutions tech support. At this time the versions supported directly through MBS are 2010/11.0, 10.0 and 9.0 (streamline support for the version 9.0 will expire in January 2011, so make your decisions accordingly). Versions, where support is expired are Dynamics GP 8.0, 7.5, Great Plains Select 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0; Great Plains Accounting for DOS, Windows and Macintosh. Also, support question is probably about what module or application you need to be supported. For example, if you need Crystal Reports for Great Plains to be designed or tuned (if they are producing annoying duplicate records, or things like that) – you probably should find Crystal Reports designer who is familiar with Dynamics GP Table Structure. Also FRx reporting is pretty isolated area, where you may need Corporate Finance Reporting consultant to be engaged, with exposure to Great Plains Dynamics
