  High Performance In-Line Attenuator

Perry Keller

Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) has announced the release of its in-line attenuator which is ideally suited for use in telecommunication networks, local area networks, fiber optic CATV systems, measuring instruments, optical fiber sensor and optical fiber to household. It is intended to adjust optical power to a desired level. The attenuator is an electronic device that reduces the amplitude or power of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. It also has the ability to lower voltage, dissipate power and to improve impedance matching.
GAO Fiber Optics’ in-line attenuator is manufactured with different connector types and end face configurations. Available connectors include FC/PC, SC/PC, FC/APC, SC/APC and ST. The attenuation level ranges from 0dB to 20dB at intervals of 0.5dB. This easy-to-install electronic unit boasts high stability, low insertion loss and high attenuation precision. The standard attenuation precision is ±1.0dB at 0 to 10dB or ±1.5dB at 11 to 25dB and can be assigned according to specific requirements. It operates over a wavelength range of 1260 to 1620nm and its maximum handling power is 300mV.
