GAO Fiber Optics

Toronto, Canada - GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com), a leading supplier of fiber optic instruments, has released a compact and lightweight single fiber fusion splicer. The splicer detects the fiber end-face and adjusts parameters automatically. The single fiber fusion splicer is specifically designed for dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF), non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber (NZ-DSF), and erbium-doped fiber (EDF).
GAO Fiber Optics' single fiber fusion splicer, model 730, boasts simultaneous X and Y views, 256x magnification and a reversible monitor and a control panel on each side. It features a short splicing time of eight seconds, and an impressive tube heating time (sleeve shrinking time) of 40 seconds. The typical splice loss using this innovative fusion splicer is only 0.1dB to 0.3dB. The single fiber fusion splicer contains a large memory and is able to store 8,000 groups of splice results. The splicer automatically adjusts to environmental conditions using built-in temperature, humidity and pressure sensors which provide constant feedback signals to control the fusion arc temperature.
