HYPOCRITE MATT LAUER APPLAUDS AL FRANKEN  HYPOCRITE MATT LAUER APPLAUDS AL FRANKEN
J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Pat Robertson said that Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez should be assassinated. Robertson explained his proposition on the basis that Chavez is a ruthless dictator and anti-American. Further, the televangelist went on to state that Chavez is too close to Iran’s despotic rule and Cuba’s communists.

With Robertson giving forth with such, Today’s TV Show expressed alarm. In fact, the telecast opened up with slamming Robertson’s low brow approach to assessing various ones of the human race. In other words, to NBC’s Matt Lauer in particular, Robertson was so out of place that he had to be disciplined in public and sent back to his corner. That was on August 23, 2005.

However, when a leftist is guest in Matt Lauer’s "living room set" on Today, October 25, 2005, he is most welcome to call for two high-ranking government officials close to US President George W. Bush to be "executed." With that, studio personnel laughed aloud. With that, Lauer himself considered the remark to be quite funny, chuckling all the while.

This of course is the daily double standard held by the American newscasters and TV celebrities who pretend to mold sane public opinion. We can stretch that to include such Hollywood mouths as Barbara Streisand and like ilk.

Yes, it was on the Today Show that despicable comments were permitted Al Franken. They were totally acceptable to the staff and anchorman, Matt Lauer.

Lauer asked Franken what the future was for Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.

Franken responded by saying they’ll be indicted and found guilty. Then, because of their crimes, they will be executed. Further, they should be, in his opinion.

Chavez should not be assassinated but Rove and Libby should be executed. Robertson is ethically wrong and an embarrassment to civility. Franken is morally acceptable and congratulated for his brash comments.

Franken said that Mr. Bush is "incompetent. The crew laughed in response. Franken then went further to claim that Mr. Bush is "corrupt."

Franken was pushing his latest publication, "The Truth With Jokes." His first book has the title, "The liberal voice of Al Franken first came calling when he declared Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot."

When Robertson said what he said, Lauer had this to say: "We fine broadcasters for using four-letter words, we say that’s offensive. So is it offensive to call for the assassination of a world leader?"

But it’s not offensive to call for the execution of Rove and Libby.
