John & Becky's Movie Review of "Kill Bill - Volume 2"  Becky and I went for it and saw "Kill Bill - Volume 2" on Sunday night. The "Kill Bill" website at http://killbill.movies.go.com/ besides having the title - "The Bride Is Back For The Final Cut" describes the story as follows in the Press Notes:

The Story
After dispensing with former colleagues O-Ren Ishii (LUCY LIU) and Vernita Green (VIVICA A. FOX) in KILL BILL VOL. 1, the Bride (UMA THURMAN) resumes her quest for justice in the series’ second installment, KILL BILL VOL. 2. With those two down, the Bride has two remaining foes on her 'Death List' to pursue – Budd (MICHAEL MADSEN) and Elle Driver (DARYLHANNAH) – before moving on to her ultimate goal... to kill Bill (DAVID CARRADINE).

The Review
> Okay, first of all Becky and I really didn't like "Kill Bill - Volume 1". In fact, we disliked it so much that we added Volume 2 to our personal "Don't Bother" list before it came out. However, I saw Joel Siegel on "Good Morning America" say that he didn't like the first one, but he really liked Volume 2 and he talked me into going. So, I talked Becky into seeing it with me. Well, Quentin Tarantino redeemed himself in our book with Volume 2 and we were surprised how much we liked it given our disdain for Volume 1. Volume 1 may actually be better the second time around after watching Volume 2, so I'm tempted to rent it now that I've seen Volume 2.

You don't have to watch Volume 1 to get Volume 2 and I would suggest watching Volume 2 first based on our reaction to Volume 1. It's really just one big movie with an intermission that lasted longer than 15 minutes. This movie is a crazy action flick that reminded me of one of those goofy 70's kung-fu movies that they used to play on Saturday mornings years ago combined with a appeal of a spaghetti Western. Uma Thurman is like a female Clint Eastwood and there is even that wild 70's music throughout the film. I got the feeling that Q & U (Quentin & Uma) must have watched the same movies that I did as a kid on Saturday morning. There is even a reference in the movie to one of those movies that was pretty popular and if you watch when Uma finally meets David there is a old Western on the television in the background. It's pretty classic.

Uma should get a nomination for best actress for this role because she really nails it. Seeing David Carradine, (you will recall was "grasshopper" in the television series "Kung-Fu") as "Bill" who Uma is out to "Kill" is really wild. Daryl Hannah plays a really tough and sadistic contract killer who thinks she can take Uma's character and wants to do battle with her and take her sword.

The movie is really nuts. It moved sort of slow at times, but kept your attention with a few surprises. It will have you rooting for Uma on her quest for revenge and survival as she climbs the ranks to reach her final destination to "Kill Bill".

Conclusion
If you're a fan of action films this is a must see. If you have problems with violence then you should skip this movie and anything else that Quentin Tarantino has already or will put out in the future. The guy loves gratitious violence: Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Dusk Till Dawn. Need I say more? I have to say that this is my favorite of his films and if you like action flicks then Becky and I both agree that it's worth the trip.

Becky's Rating: *** Worth The Trip
John's Rating: *** Worth The Trip
