SAP Business One as localized solution for Brazilian subsidiary and Microsoft Dynamics GP – Great Plains as Headquarters MRP solution.  Sometimes this model is referred as spoke-and-hub.

In this small article we would like to give you successful implementation example of MRP for multinational corporation, when one of the major manufacturing facilities is located in Brazil and headquarters is in the USA plus sales operations cover all the Americas: North and South

• Microsoft Dynamics GP in US Headquarters.  Microsoft Great Plains has traditionally strong positions in the US and Spanish speaking Latin America, however it is not localized for Brazil.  Implementation included Financials and Bill of Materials modules with business-specific set of sophisticated managerial reporting: sales by blend, by region, by sales rep, in comparison to historical data (Crystal Reports).  Brazilian subsidiary was realized as separate GP company, but the data was subject to be imported from Brazilian ERP
• SAP Business One.  SAP B1 out of the box has pretty robust light manufacturing module, which was very useful for Brazilian facility.  Plus it is localized for Brazil and also has nice feature as forms interface language switch. This language switch feature (from Portuguese to English) enables US Headquarters managers control Brazilian ERP records keeping and audit the operations as needed.  SAP B1 has very intuitive and robust data export capabilities.  Virtually you can send data to Excel from the SAP B1 reports and deploy Microsoft Dynamics GP Integration Manager to map data import
• Technologies.  Microsoft Dexterity, MS SQL Server Views and Stored Procedures, Crystal Reports, Integration Manager with advanced VBA scripting.  We also plan to recommend eConnect-based web front for Worldwide eCommerce (MS .Net, C# & VB.Net), PerformanceSoft PBViews for performance scorecard.  SAP Business One actually didn’t require custom development on the initial implementation phase, in the future we may deploy SAP Business One SDK to further automate data export
