If you have Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains as your backoffice or simply say, corporate ERP, and if you deploy modified GP business logic for multiple years, then you probably feel uncomfortable, when you hear about new technologies, affecting Great Plains and substantial changes and “improvements” in recent new GP version and even worse, you may hear hints that newer version will not be compatible with you good-old-days operating system or database platform. DYNAMICS.DIC. It is highly desirable that you have your dex customization source file, typically these are either DYNAMIC.DIC or EXTRACT.DIC. They should contain Dexterity sanscript source code – in regular DYNAMICS.DIC or your CUSTOM.DIC these scripts are stripped out. If you don’t have the source – then our programmers may help you by analyzing your existing custom functionality and offer you to re-program them in new version – especially when upgrade is inevitable – due to discontinuing old GP version support by Microsoft Dynamics subdivision (former MBS)
Technology revision. If you used your dexterity custom logic in Ctree/Btrieve, then your mods should be revised: instead of old dex cursors we may advise you to switch to a way faster SQL stored procedures; in certain situations we would recommend you to simplify especially heavy dex custom module by transferring portion of the logic to such new tools as eConnect and probably stored procedures in MS SQL Server
Remote support. Nowadays, with adoption of such webex technologies as Citrix, Remote Desktop connection, Terminal Server, web sessions via gotomeeting.com and others – there is no needs for Dexterity developer to commute to your place and sit in your office.
