Illinois subdivision is announcing full service of Microsoft Dynamics GP
implementation: user training, technical consulting, software development
(including Microsoft Great Plains Dexterity, eConnect, VBA/Modifier, Xtender,
Visual Studio.Net C# and VB.Net, eCommerce for GP) to Chicagoland and Midwest
clients. In this small article we would like to give you some Microsoft
Dynamics GP highlights
- Modules.
Dynamics GP is successor of Great Plains Software Dynamics and eEnterprise,
it has Financials modules set: GL, AR, AP, Payroll; Supply Chain Management:
SOP, POP, Inventory Control; Manufacturing, Field Services and various
horizontal and vertical third party modules
- Reporting.
Historically ReportWriter – Dexterity application was the initial tool and
it was and still is heavily used in Sales Invoicing, for example. Recent
trend – Microsoft is introducing SQL Reporting Services. Up to version 7.5
Microsoft Great Plains was promoting Crystal Reports and we see large number
of clients with Crystal Reports for GP. Crystal Reports allow you to print
Unicode fonts, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean.
- Microsoft
Dexterity. Initially Great
Plains was architechtured and programmed in Great Plains Dexterity, which in
turn was written in C as a shell. Historically, in earlier 1990th
the question of survival was DB independence (Btrieve, Ctree/Faircomm, MS
SQL Server 6.5), plus Graphical platform independence: Mac, Microsoft
Windows, SUN Solaris, etc. Dexterity with the help of C programming
language was supposedly resolving these “independence” questions. Modern
Microsoft Dexterity helps you modify and customize GP “fat” client and
supports such nice features as COM objects, SQL Stored Procs calls to name a
few.
