Alba Spectrum is traditional Great Plains Software Dexterity customization development partner in USA with development facilities in Naperville, Chicago, Houston, Manila Philippines and it provides Dex software development services to GP customer worldwide.  If you have legacy old Great Plains Dynamics/eEnterprise Dex customization module, we would be happy to offer you version upgrade services.  Current Great Plains version is GP 10.0 (August 2007).  Let us give you dex technology highlights:

  1. Architecture.  Dex was designed in C++ programming language in earlier 1990th, when the common believe that operating system and computer graphical platform independence is critical for ERP/MRP.  When  Great Plains Software was purchased by Microsoft and Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions subdivision was established, the Microsoft approach changed to the way of moving Dexterity and Microsoft Great Plains to Microsoft Windows (later on Microsoft .net) and MS SQL Server platform exclusively
  2. eConnect concept.  eConnect was initially addressed as eCommerce development tool.  Later on Microsoft extended eConnect platform to become stored procedures duplication for GP Dexterity work and master records creation and modification.  eConnect lacks posting functionality – in order to automate batch posting from your ecommerce application you need to deploy Alba Spectrum Posting server
  3. Dexterity Customization upgrade.  Great Plains Dexterity customization source code is resided in DYNAMICS.DIC or EXTRAC.DIC – your past Dex developers should be able to provide your these custom dictionaries
  4. Dexterity attributes.  Dex.EXE, Dex.INI. Dynamics.Set. If you need explanation on what these files serve for, please give us a call
  5. Crystal Reporting for GP.  Actually both CR and SRS (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services) should be based in MS SQL Server views and stored procedures as all reporting tools are just reporting tools, not business logic data pulling vehicles
