Business Portal is Microsoft Windows SharePoint 3.0 application and
as such it also requires .Net Framework 3.0. If you plan to install it
for test purposes, please first enter license key in your Microsoft
Great Plains, where you have Fabricam test company installed. In this
small article we would like to give you additional practical Business
Portal installation highlights:
- 64 Bit Windows
2003. At this time BP is not supported and it is simply not
installable on 64 bit Windows server. You will get error message
about MS SharePoint not installed, even if you have just loaded 64
bit version of MS SP 3.0 Services. Microsoft will begin first
testing of its BP for GP as scheduled closer to the end of 2007. We
may expect your disappointment as you are reading these lines,
especially knowing facts, when our customers plan to use Sharepoint
Server in 64 bit clustered environment, as Business Portal is very
good fit for large enterprises
- eConnect as
connector to GP. eConnect integrations became standard component
for peripheral modules, which are not designed in Microsoft
Dexterity. eConnect does similar to Dex job in creating, modifying
and deleting master records, such as customer, employee, vendor and
work transactions, such as SOP invoice
- Installation
process. If you are not reinstalling Sharepoint, installation works
from the first time. In the case when you decide to reinstall or
upgrade, we heard complains about Sharepoint initiation failing
