Too Many Engagement Ring Styles to Choose From

Who could believe that one of the happiest periods in a young couple's lives could turn into a blazing row! Well, that's what happened the day my sweetheart and I went shopping for our engagement ring. We saw some absolutely beautiful engagement ring styles and I only wanted the best for the love of my life. But she, on the other hand, kept piping on and on about how the money could be better spent on the future house and showed little interest in the exquisiteness of these impressive designs. I couldn't understand her attitude as this was to be both an eternal and sentimental token of my commitment to our future together, and that has to be worth more than tins of paint, or a plasma TV set.

Our happy day got so intense and unpleasant that I suggested we part for a couple of hours and meet up later to discuss this further. Thank goodness she had come to her senses when we paired up again. The poor little sod was in tears and asked me to forgive her selfishness and materialistic madness. Of course I did, and I was only too happy that we could restart the day and continue to look at all the fantastic engagement ring styles as a only a committed couple could do.

The day became very special, and those of you that have experienced the joy of getting engaged will know what I mean. She tried on many styles from antique to modern. Whilst some looked ghastly others looked spectacular, some were tacky and others had fairy tale price tags, but oh what a fun day we had looking.

It was really nice in one way to have so many engagement ring styles to choose from, but the flip side of that meant that it was no easy task to make a decision. I mean, there are just so many different sizes and shapes, various stones and setting, in fact the choices are quite overwhelming.

We eventually collapsed into a coffee shop exhausted and reflected on what we had seen so far. We decided that we needed to break down the ring into 3 components and build our preferences based on them. We looked at what kind of band, setting, and stone(s) we liked, and then went back into the jewelers with this in mind. Obviously the stone is a major factor whereas the size is somewhat determined by budget.

We eventually settled for a white cold band with a center stone with an emerald cut. The emerald cut is a rectangular diamond and we thought it just looked so sophisticated compared to the other shapes.

So there it is, know what you want and go get it. The ring my beloved tried on fitted like a glove and needed no adjustment whatsoever. We walked out of the jewelers a very happy couple and what's more, an engaged couple. I don’t know about your guys, but there's a feeling that comes with engagement that's just indescribably wonderful. Remember, getting engaged is just one step away from marriage and you should really consider what engagement ring styles you prefer. After all, you marital bands will be with you for the rest of your lives.
