Use the information in this procedure to help you locate table information for an application.
In Great Plains, point to Resource Descriptions in the Tools menu and choose Tables. In the Report Writer, Modifier, or Dexterity, choose Table Descriptions from the File menu.
Click lookup button for the Table field to display the Table Names window.
In the Table Names window, select the product in which you want to locate table information.
To find a particular table quickly, click the Find button and type the table name in the Find window (for tables).
Select the series and a sorting method in the View By field. A list of all tables within that series will appear.
To view two lines of information, including the technical name and table group technical name, click the "show" button in the upper right corner of the scrolling window.
To print all the table names for the selected product and series, click Print. Select printing destinations, then click OK.
To view additional information about one of the tables in the Table Names window, select a table and click OK. The Table Descriptions window will appear.
To view information about an individual field in the table, select it in the scrolling window and click Field Info. The Additional Field Information window will be displayed.
Click the Usage button to open the Table Usage window. This window contains a list of all the forms that use the data stored in this table and a list of all the reports that use data from the table.
To view comments about a table, click the Additional Info button in the Table Descriptions window; the Additional Table Information window will be displayed. This window contains information about other tables that this table is related to, as well as indicating which fields are required for records to be stored properly in the table.
Use the Secondary Table list to display all the tables that are related to this table. When you select one of these tables, additional information about the relationship between the tables will be displayed in the Secondary Table Key, Related Fields and Relationship Type fields.
Use the steps in this procedure to find information about fields within the application. You can use this information to ascertain which tables contain a particular field, as well as specific information about each field's characteristics.
In Great Plains, point to Resource Descriptions in the Tools menu and choose Fields.
In the Report Writer, Modifier, or Dexterity, choose Field Descriptions from the File menu.
In the Field Descriptions window, select the product that contains the field you want to view. Then select the "core," or series.
When you select a series, all the fields within that series will be displayed in the Fields list. Select the field you need information for.
Some field names are different from the prompts that appear in windows. If you're not sure of the field name, use the Finding form and window information procedure to find out which fields appear in the window, and then display information about the field.
When you select a field, the Tables Containing Field list will display all tables where the field is stored.
Click the Field Info button to view additional field information about the selected field.
The information in this procedure can be used to help you locate information about display names and technical names used for forms and windows in an application.

In the Window Descriptions window, select the product in which you want to search. Then select the series.
The sorting method you select will depend upon the information you need.
To find a particular window quickly, click the Find button and type the window name in the Find window (for windows). You can search by window display name, window technical name or form name.
To print the window names and information for the windows in the selected product and series, click Print.
This procedure describes how to find the table where a particular piece of information is stored.
Note the exact name of the window where the information you want is displayed, as well as the prompt name of the field the information is displayed in. For instance, if you want to find where account description information is stored, locate a window containing a field used to display account descriptions.
In Great Plains, point to Resource Descriptions in the Tools menu and choose Windows. In the Report Writer, Modifier, or Dexterity, choose Window Descriptions from the File menu.
Select the series and window name. Be sure to sort by Window Display Name.
The window's fields will be displayed in the Window Fields list. Any field not beginning with (L) will typically be stored in a table. Locate the field you want, keeping in mind that the field name may not be the same as the prompt that appears next to it.
In addition, note the tables accessed by the window, listed in the Tables list.
Open the Field Descriptions window. Select the series and field name. The list of tables that contain the field is located at the bottom of the window.
