Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains is marketed for mid-size companies in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, as well as in Middle East.
Great Plains boasts of a horde of modules that specifically ties with a company’s business processes. This is evident in modules such as Purchase Order Processing, Human Resources, Payroll, etc.
The standard Payroll module included in Great Plains is geared towards the US standards and in accordance with US regulations. While this may mean easy usage for US-based companies, this is a headache for companies situated outside North America. As such, there has been regional modifications to the US Payroll module like the Canadian Payroll, which was developed by the MBS development team. Another customized payroll module is for the Middle East.
The Middle East Payroll module was not developed by MBS, but instead by an ISV based in the United Arab Emirates. This module was not built from scratch but rather built on top of the existing US Payroll module. This means that before you can use the ME Payroll, you have to have your US Payroll registered first. Other functionalities are available for this module which ties up with the Human Resources module. ME Payroll is made by an Arab company for Arab companies. It has been implemented (on at least one company) in most, if not all, countries in the Middle East. Some notable differences would be the weekend (Thursday and Friday) and salary computation.
