Lively business activity at CERAMITEC 2006Many business deals concluded
- Exhibitors praise the quality of the contacts made
- CERAMITEC establishes itself as an innovation portal for new markets and applications
Owing to the presence of the decision-makers from the sector and the high level of internationality of the public, 85 per cent of exhibitors assessed the outcome of CERAMITEC 2006 as “good to excellent” according to the results from TNS Infratest. Especially in demand were creative product developments and flexible, efficient systems for powder metallurgy and the classical areas of ceramics – sanitary, tableware, structural and refractory – as well as the increasingly stronger area of technical ceramics.
From suppliers of raw materials and additives, from machinery manufacturers right down to suppliers of thermoprocessing plant or measuring and testing systems: there was praise for the high quality of the contacts and talks, from which many concrete projects and contracts resulted. This was confirmed by Carsten Wünsche, Director of the kiln construction company CTB: “We were flooded with enquiries about specific projects, most of all in technical ceramics, the refractory area and in research and development.”
Plant builders in coarse ceramics indicated a growth in demand from China, South Africa and Brazil, but the sum total of enquiries increased considerably too. “This
trade fair has turned out to be the best for years”, said Christian Wagner, Director of Novokeram. “Right at the fair, we concluded the contract for a split tile works in Spain for the Tecton combine. So we far surpassed our targets for the event.”
There was positive feedback about many new contracts, not only from “regular exhibitors” and the big company groups like Ceric, Lingl, Saint-Gobain, Eirich, Imerys, Stephan Schmidt and Sacmi but also from many of the 127 firms that were exhibiting at CERAMITEC for the first time. Directly at their stand, Dragon and TC Kilns signed an order for a kiln installation for refractory materials.
CERAMITEC 2006 was also an innovation portal for new product and application areas in technical ceramics and structural ceramics components, such as in the automobile industry and in environmental, medical and armouring technology. Brigitte Wirth, Head of Marketing at Saint-Gobain Ceramics, stated: “CERAMITEC 2006 was even more successful for us than 2003 because with our innovations, we also addressed customers from new applications. The customers showed great interest especially in the diesel particle filters as well as the extremely large SiC plates.”
For this the 10th International Trade Fair for Machinery, Equipment, Plant, Processes and Raw Materials for CERAMICS and POWDER METALLURGY, around 22,000 trade visitors came to Munich from 106 countries. 612 exhibitors from 42 lands presented their products and services at the event on 16 - 19 May.
