Frankfurt (Germany), July 12, 2006 – The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), in cooperation with Software & Support Verlag, presented ApacheCon Europe 2006 in Dublin, Ireland June 26-30, 2006. This event, offered an ideal venue for the Open Source community to delve into critical issues across the spectrum of Apache-based innovations and other Open Source software, drew more than 300 attendees that included developers, contributors, businesspeople, and power users. ApacheCon Europe 2006 addressed key topics in Open Source technology with more than 70 sessions and tutorials that a wide range of technologies, including industry-leading Apache HTTP Server, Jakarta, Geronimo, Tomcat, Lenya, Cocoon, XML, Web Services, portals, and databases. Attendees were able to gain insight into the many projects managed by the ASF as well as the latest trends in the community through the exchange of ideas, and opportunities to network with peers.

The Business Track featured sessions on realizing profitability within Open Source projects, community relations, marketing, licensing, and legal issues. The track was highly successful among the CIOs, CTOs, project managers, and decision-makers who attended the exclusive two-day program.

The ApacheCon Expo was held alongside the conference, showcasing diverse Apache- and Open Source-based technologies, solutions, and services from organizations from all over the world, including Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the United States. The five-day exhibit provided delegates and speakers the chance to network and learn more about innovations in the Open Source arena.

Conference speakers included well-known experts in the community who provided real world implementation insight and advice. The presenters included luminaries such as Mark Shuttleworth (Founder, thawte and Ubuntu), Cliff Schmidt (Vice-President, ASF Legal Affairs), Gianugo Rabellino (CEO, Sourcesense), Brian W.
