KKE Architects Awarded Design Contract for Hopkins Real Estate Group's New Talega Village Center in San Clemente's Award Winning Masterplanned Community PASADENA, Calif. (August 13, 2004) - Award winning KKE Architects, Inc. based in Minneapolis, Minn., announced today that it has been selected by Hopkins Real Estate Group, Inc. of Newport Beach to design the company’s latest retail development project, Talega Village Center in San Clemente, Calif.

Situated on approximately 10.32 acres at the southwest corner of Avenida Vista Hermosa and Avenida Talega, Talega Village Center is strategically located in the heart of the master planned "Talega of San Clemente’ community, which was recently named \\"Master Planned Community of the Year.’

"We are working very closely with Hopkins Real Estate Group and the City of San Clemente to realize their vision of creating a distinctive, upscale shopping experience for both residents and visitors where they can shop, dine, or relax in a vibrant, people oriented environment,’ says KKE’s architect and managing principal Brian Arial, AIA in Newport Beach.

"The design intent was to create a village atmosphere to encourage more foot traffic as well as longer and more frequent visits to the Center,’ says Mark Giles, AIA, senior design associate at KKE in Pasadena. "The creative fusion of Santa Barbara Mission and Mediterranean style architecture provides the backdrop to this chic, memorable destination. At the Talega Village Center, shaded benches, arcades, and courtyards will complement the exciting outdoor cafes, coffee houses and retail shopping experiences.’

According to Steve Hopkins, president of Hopkins Real Estate Group, "We are currently working with KKE on several projects and found them to be very responsive and able to reach our project goals very quickly. KKE actually brought us into our Redlands Town Center project, which is service you don’t usually get from your architect,’ Hopkins says.

"When completed, we believe that the Talega Village Center will be an important amenity to the growing community and will be embraced and appreciated well into the future,’ adds Hopkins. Plans for the up to 130,000-square-foot retail development have not been finalized.

Recently, KKE Architects announced that it was selected by A.O. One, LLC – an entity operated by Great Circle Management, LLC – to handle the rollout of its Noodles & Company restaurants in Southern California. Also, with local developer Cusumano Real Estate Group, KKE has commenced construction on Burbank Civic Plaza, a $20 million, four-story mixed-use project in Burbank. KKE Architects is also working with the Arthur Pearlman Corporation and Rancon Real Estate on a ±334,000-square-foot shopping center in Murietta, CA.
