Greg Sarwa, author of "The Cattle," interviewed at TheBookInsider.com Greg Sarwa was recently interviewed online at TheBookInsider.com about his novel, "The Cattle."
Excerpt from interview:
TheBookInsider.com: Who and/or what have been your biggest influences with regard to your writing and why?
Greg Sarwa: I don’t think I can point out a single biggest influence. There were at least a few of equally important, at least in my opinion. I knew I was going to write after I read books by Polish author, Marek Hlasko. I didn’t know how nor what I would write, but I knew that I wanted to, eventually. Then I was introduced to Krakow’s legendary bards and poets, who made me, look at writing some poems, which I, unfortunately, did. They were very painful and barely readable, for sure, so thanks God I didn’t keep copies. I don’t think I would be able to stand them. But at least trying to write those poems made me put the pen on the paper. After that came the "Dead Poets Society" and that was it. I knew I have to do something, immediately. Instead, it took me more than few years to write something for different reasons, one of them immigrating to United States. But I have never forgot those words: "Carpe Diem".
TheBookInsider.com: Is "The Cattle" your first novel? Please tell us a little about "The Cattle."
Greg Sarwa: "The Cattle" is my first book. In short, it shows (at least I hope it does) an exaggerated possible side consequence of hosting a microchip implant in our bodies. This exaggeration was used for a reason. It was included to show that those microchips implants are beyond our control. Also, "The Cattle" shows a very plausible, next few steps any government in the world could take in the race to control their own societies. We are all witnessing the beginning of their march, right now.

Hardcover: 224 pages
Ampol Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 0976620219
Book Description: Shortly after implementation of the ”Real ID Act of 2005”, the United States National Identification System is created and an intense period of information gathering is begun. Detailed personal data about all U.S. residents is stored in a registered, highly secured database controlled by an enigmatic government agency. The governmental grip tightens with new laws requiring standardized state documents that comply with federal guidelines. And this is only the beginning!
Following exhaustive and flawless testing of the fledgling National Identification System, the government forces the issue of microprocessor implants for verification purposes. Every person in the United States of America will be implanted with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) microchip to authenticate identity and store personal information.
Yet, one question remains unanswered: Is identity verification the only reason for signifying us with the “Mark of the Beast”?
The evening before the National Identification System officially becomes a reality, during the last control tests of the system, something goes wrong: someone accidentally discovers the real purpose of the implants. A secret agenda, hidden behind the “identity verification” cover, is exposed. What is the dark secret? Will we be warned? Can we be saved?
