Now with this nomination, Rogers is once-more recognized as a weighty contributor to the Blues community. “We were thrilled with the results of last year’s event, and think it reflects the growing popularity and diversity of the genre,” noted Kevin Kane, Blues Foundation President. “We look forward to a bigger and better show in 2005 and encourage everyone to go online to participate in the voting process and to purchase tickets before they are gone,” he added. Previously nominated for 8 Grammy’s for his production and performance work in the recording industry, Rogers’ has been immersed in the blues and roots scene for many years, performing professionally since the age of 13. In addition Rogers' recently co-wrote the song “G’Nawin on It” ( on 'Silver Lining’ ) with Bonnie Raitt which was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance category. Last fall, Rogers, who lined up such big-name collaborators as Carlos Santana, Keith Richards, and Los Lobos for John Lee Hooker, saw the release of ‘Face to Face’, a 15-track collection of outtakes mostly from the Grammy winning original Virgin Records Hooker sessions of the early 1990's, which he initially produced.

Rogers is currently being featured on ‘Sierra Center Stage’, the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company-sponsored television series which seeks to bring exposure to underexposed American Roots and World musicians. 'Sierra Center Stage' enjoyed over 170 broadcasts on public television this summer, being aired on over 50 stations and hitting more than 32 million households, according to Go Public!, the program's public television firm.

Rogers and his band, The Delta Rhythm Kings, are performing nationally to support the new television series and his newly released live album. Touring the globe since 1982 including performances in Europe, South American, Australia and as far away as China, Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings continue to delight fans with their powerful performances. Rogers adds, “Clearly people are still moved by the blues - it doesn’t matter if it was cut in 1942 or 1986 or yesterday. It is still music that means something. I feel very fortunate that I’m able to be a part of that.” Inspired by the reaction of his fans, Rogers decided to record the shows in the Big Room and to compile them onto disc with special guest performances by pianist Phil Aaberg, harmonica wizard Norton Buffalo, vocalist Shana Morrison and fiddler Tom Rigney.

In addition Rogers has a weekly radio program called “Under The Influence”. The Saturday morning radio show is heard on the KRSH FM radio station in Sonoma County and the North Bay and will be looking to syndicate in 2005. With over 80 shows already recorded, the program covers the ‘influences’ of music from jazz and blues, to rock and roll and swing music and everything in between with Rogers discussing the genres and the influences of each focus. “I’m having a ball with it” says Rogers.
