Foundation That Has Awarded $1.3 Million Announces PromotionWashington DC - February 18, 2005 - The Civil Justice Foundation and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America proudly announced the promotion of Laquita Toombs to the position of Administrative Director of the Foundation at the annual ATLA conference in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday, February 18th.

The Civil Justice Foundation is a national not-for-profit charitable organization created in 1986 by ATLA members and is dedicated to safeguarding the intrinsic constitutional rights afforded to all Americans by the civil justice system.

Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $1.3 million to 109 consumer advocacy organizations that are working for consumer injury prevention, public safety protection, and constitutional right-to-trial preservation throughout North America.

The Administrative Director is a vital position and demands proficiency in a wide variety of critical responsibilities, including promoting the Foundation’s mission, processing grant requests and funding, spearheading fundraising and special events, and acting as a liaison between trustees and board members.

Newly appointed Director Toombs has served the Foundation since 2003 and has been an integral member of the staff since her arrival. Ms. Toombs has an intimate understanding of both the local and global objectives of the organization and has helped to cultivate a solid balance between efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling those goals.

From daily office administration to massive event management, Ms. Toombs embodies the skill, leadership, and vision necessary to promote the important mission of the Foundation throughout the country. The Foundation is honored to have her on board as the new Administrative Director.
